About the Contest

Who is allowed to participate in the Canadian Mobile Contest?

Any Canadian mobile phone user who is at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of Canada. 

How can Red Bull use the images I submitted?

Red Bull may use your submitted images for editorial or promotional purposes in conjuction with Red Bull Illume. 

Does the photograph need to be Red Bull branded?

The images do not have to be Red Bull branded. Any unbranded or Red Bull branded action and adventure shot can be submitted as long as trademarks, logos, etc. from 3rd parties are not shown. Please refer to the Official Rules below for details.

What is a Mobile Device?

Any portable computing device such as a smartphone or tablet. Action cameras are not considered as a mobile device in this competition. 

How is the winning image being selected?

A panel of esteemed judges will select the top photo based on the technical superiority, composition, creativity, impact, artistic fail and overall qualities of photographic excellence. 

What's the prize?

The overall winner will have their image displayed at the Red Bull Illume Canadian exhibit tour stop and receive an all-expenses paid trip to Toronto for the Red Bull Illume Winner Awards Ceremony on November 18th. In addition, the winner will receive a G-Tech USB3 Hard drive with 1 TB storage.

Submissions

What is an inappropriate submission?

Images of a political nature, pornographic images, full frontal nudity and sexually explicit images of any kind are not permitted. For details, please refer to the Official Rules below.

How many megapixels should my image have?

At least 8 megapixels. To determine the megapixels of your image, simply multiply the vertical and horizontal number of pixels and divide by one million, e.g. 12.2 mega pixels (2848 pixels x 4288 pixels = 12,212,224). You can also check your megapixel file size in Photoshop by opening the image and pressing Apple+Alt+I (Apple) or Ctrl+Alt+I (PC).

What is the difference between file size and picture size?

The image size of a graphic file is given in pixels (see above example calculating megapixels). File size measures the weight of a computer file.

I used a 8 megapixels or higher camera, but the resolution is still too small. Why?

If the resolution of your image is not sufficient, please check your camera settings: Even if you are using a 8+ megapixel camera you must also ensure that you are shooting at the highest possible resolution.

Why am I unable to upload my images?

If you can't upload your images please check the format and file size of your image. You can only upload JPGs. JPG is a compression format that reduces file size. You cannot submit TIFFs, RAWs or similar.

Please make sure not to exceed the maximum file size of 10 Megabytes (MB). If you still can't submit, the file might be damaged. Try to open it on your computer and see if any errors occur.

I have already submitted five images, but would like to add another one. Can I exchange images?

Once a photograph has been submitted, it is final and may not be replaced by another photograph.

Can I submit images under more than one account?

Please note that is against the rules to submit images under more than one account and will lead to disqualification.

If one of my images gets disqualified, will I be able to submit a replacement?

No. You may submit five images per category and these cannot be replaced after submission. Please choose your images carefully and consider rules and requirements for submission.

Ryan Stutt

Ryan Stutt is president of The King Publishing Project, the largest action sports network in Canada. The King Network tells stories about skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and skiing.Ryan started off covering action sports at SBC Media and after five years as an editor there decided to start two magazines of his own, King Shit Skateboard Magazine and King Snow Snowboard Magazine. Eight years later, he’s got four more action adventure sport titles in the stable. He and his team are constantly assessing photography as they go about publishing 20 issues every year. Without good photography, he says, there wouldn’t be magazines.“Action and adventure sport photography is one of the few fields of photography that constantly surprises me with its growth and change,” he says. What makes a great photo is hard for him to say because there’s a “certain unquantifiable element to it”.“To me, it’s a combination of composition and capturing the right moment,” Ryan says.  He encourages up and coming photographers to really study their craft and to quiz photographers they respect about their techniques and approaches. “Practice like hell before you submit photos to publications.”

Evgeny Tchebotarev

Evgeny Tchebotarev is the founder and CPO of 500px, a wildly-popular photo community and photography marketplace based in Canada and the USA. With offices in Toronto, New York and San Francisco, 500px focuses on discovering, sharing, buying and selling inspirational photography, powered by creative people from around the globe.

It’s his passion for images that led Evgeny to start the company as a hobby in 2004. “I was trying to connect the best photographers, and reward and enable visual creativity,” he says. The business soon outgrew his wildest expectations. Now in its 11th year, 500px has a huge online photo community of 6 million people worldwide. The company also publishes its own online magazine – 500px ISO – reaching 1 million readers monthly.

As someone who’s seen his fair share of quality shots, Evgeny understand the value of great photography, “500px is built on our community and great photography is critical to the success of our clients, who license the photos. It’s also important for our tens of millions of viewers, who enjoy the photos on their smartwatches, TVs, smartphones, and computers.”

Asked about the value of mobile photography in the digital era, he’s enthused by the possibilities, saying, “I think mobile photography has definitely levelled the playing field, allowing hundreds of millions of people get into photography and test the limits of their creativity. It’s great for the world!” He feels the same about the role of social media, “For better or worse, we are living in a connected age, so you see things in near-real-time, and it helps you feel more immersed.”

As a Red Bull Illume judge, Evgeny will look for more than just striking technical and visual elements in a photograph, “I think the most important thing about the photo is how it makes you feel. If you have a strong emotion due to the image, it’s great — it captures and conveys the message well. Some photos are technically perfect but soulless, and I’m looking for photos that convey soul. I don’t look for sharpness or perfect lighting, but I like to see photos that make my heart sink to my feet!”

Myles McCutcheon

As photo director at Sportsnet magazine, Canada’s only national sports publication, it’s a fair bet that a lot of images cross Myles McCutcheon’s desk on a regular basis. But an image has to really stand out for him to notice. A great photo he says is one that ‘makes me pause and think’. “It should make me ask ‘why or how’ or make me say ‘Holy Sh*t!’”“Without good photography we do not stand out as a publication; without good photographers I am out of a job,” he adds.Although he’s been in this role for five years he’s been working as a photo editor and director for 15, ever since joining the business straight after school – when he was ‘thrown to the wolves’ as he puts it!A typical day is taken up by the various jobs of a photo director – fielding editor requests, brainstorming ideas, commissioning photos and illustrations, on-set direction for both video and photo shoots, research… “And of course meetings that could always be 20 minutes shorter.”Myles is open-minded about the opportunities of recent developments in photography, including smartphone use. “Instagram in particular is an amazing tool to showcase and discover. Everyone is a photographer now and talent will shine through regardless of the means used to capture the image.” But there’s one fad he says he’ll be glad to see the back of. “I will be happy when the overuse of HDR disappears,” he says.So if you’re looking to impress, keep it real. “Shoot from the heart,” he adds.

Official Rules

This contest is open to Canadian residents ONLY and is GOVERNED by Canadian law.

Standard data rates apply to participants who choose to participate in the Contest via a mobile device.  Please contact your service provider for pricing and service plan information and rates before mobile device participation.

1. KEY DATES:   

The Red Bull Illume Mobile Contest (the “Contest”) begins on September 6, 2016 at 12:00:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on October 7, 2016 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET (the “Contest Period”).  

2. ELIGIBILITY TO ENTER:

Contest is open to residents of Canada who have reached the legal age of majority in their province/territory of residence; except employees, representatives or agents (and those with whom such persons are living, whether related or not) of Red Bull Canada, Ltd. (the “Sponsor”), its parent company, subsidiaries, associated and affiliated entities, prize suppliers, advertising/promotion agencies and any other individual(s), entity or entities involved in the development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of the Contest (collectively, the “Contest Parties”).

3. AGREEMENT TO BE LEGALLY BOUND BY RULES:

By participating in this Contest, you are signifying your agreement that you have read and agree to be legally bound by the terms and conditions of these Rules.   The sole determinant of the time for the purposes of this Contest will be the official time-keeping device(s) used by the Sponsor.

4. HOW TO ENTER: 

No purchase necessary. MAKING A PURCHASE WILL NOT IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER INCREASE OR OTHERWISE IMPACT YOUR ODDS OF WINNING IN THIS CONTEST.  To enter, go to www.redbullillume.com  (the “Website”) and follow the on-screen instructions to obtain the Official Contest Registration Form (the “Form”).  Fully complete the Form with all required information and follow the subsequent email instructions to activate your online account (the “Account”) to complete your registration (the “Registration”).  Once you have completed your Registration, access your Account and follow the on-screen instructions to upload up to five (5) photographs (each, a “Photo”) that depict or otherwise reflect your best action or adventure sports shots (the “Theme”). You will be eligible to earn one (1) Entry (an “Entry”) in relation to each eligible Photo you submit to your Account in accordance with these Rules – up to a maximum of five (5) Entries per person (See Rule 5).  To be eligible, an Entry must be submitted and received in accordance with these Rules within the Contest Period.   To be eligible, any Photo you submit must: (i) reflect the Theme; (ii) be submitted and received in accordance with these Rules within the Contest Period; and (iii) be in accordance with these Rules, including, but not limited to, the specific Submission Requirements listed below in Rule 7 (all as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion).

5. ADDITIONAL ENTRY RULES: 

There is a limit of five (5) Entries per person during the Contest Period.  Each Entry you submit must contain a unique and original Photo (i.e. you cannot submit the same Photo, or substantially the same Photo, more than one (1) time in this Contest). To be eligible, each Entry you submit must be submitted in accordance with these Rules to the same Account.  For the avoidance of any doubt, you can only use one (1) Account to participate in the Contest.  If it is discovered by the Sponsor (using any evidence or other information made available to or otherwise discovered by the Sponsor) that any person has attempted to use multiple names, identities, email addresses, Account, Registrations and/or any automated, macro, script, robotic or other system(s) or program(s), and/or any other means not in keeping with the Sponsor’s interpretation of the letter and spirit of these Rules, to enter or otherwise participate in or disrupt this Contest; then he/she may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be disqualified from the Contest.  The Contest Parties and each of their respective agents, employees, directors, successors, and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) are not responsible for, and accept no liability whatsoever in relation to, any late, lost, misdirected, delayed, incomplete or incompatible Entries (all of which are void).  An Entry may be rejected if, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor: (i) the Entry is not submitted and received in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period; and/or (ii) the Photo accompanying the Entry is not in compliance with these Rules, including, without limitation, the specific Submission Requirements listed below in Rule 7 (all as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion).

6. VERIFICATION:

All Entries and entrants are subject to verification at any time and for any reason.  The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility (in a form acceptable to the Sponsor – including, without limitation, government issued photo identification): (i) for the purposes of verifying an individual’s eligibility to participate in this Contest; (ii) for the purposes of verifying the eligibility and/or legitimacy of any Entry and/or other information entered (or purportedly entered) for the purposes of this Contest; and/or (iii) for any other reason the Sponsor deems necessary, in its sole and absolute discretion, for the purposes of administering this Contest in accordance with the Sponsor’s interpretation of the letter and spirit of these Rules.  Failure to provide such proof to the complete satisfaction of the Sponsor within the timeline specified by the Sponsor may result in disqualification in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor.  

7. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, YOU AGREE THAT THE ENTRY (AND EACH INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT THEREOF – INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE PHOTO) COMPLIES WITH ALL CONDITIONS STATED IN THESE RULES. THE RELEASED PARTIES WILL BEAR NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER REGARDING: (I) THE USE OF YOUR ENTRY (OR ANY COMPONENT THEREOF – INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE PHOTO); (II) PARTICIPATION IN ANY CONTEST-RELATED ACTIVITIES; (III) ANY USE, COLLECTION, STORAGE AND DISCLOSURE OF ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION; AND/OR (IV) IF DECLARED A WINNER, ANY PRIZE (INCLUDING ANY USE OR MISUSE OF ANY PRIZE).  THE RELEASED PARTIES SHALL BE HELD HARMLESS BY YOU IN THE EVENT IT IS DISCOVERED THAT YOU HAVE DEPARTED FROM OR NOT OTHERWISE FULLY COMPLIED WITH ANY OF THESE RULES. THIS RELEASE AND INDEMNITY SHALL CONTINUE IN FORCE FOLLOWING THE TERMINATION OF THE CONTEST AND/OR AWARDING OF ANY PRIZES. 

Any Photo you submit must never have been previously selected as a winner in any other contest.  To be eligible for entry in this Contest, any Photo you submit must meet the following requirements:

Other Requirements:

  • Photo must reflect the Theme and Criteria (as defined below);
  • Photo must be your own original work;
  • Photo must not be altered (note: minor retouching which conforms to currently accepted standards in the industry is allowed)

By participating in the Contest, each entrant hereby warrants and represents that any Photo he/she submits: 

i. is original to him/her and that the entrant has obtained all necessary rights in and to the Photo for the purposes of entering the Photo in the Contest;

ii. does not violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation;

iii. does not contain any reference to or likeness of any identifiable third parties, unless consent has been obtained from all such individuals and their parent/legal guardian if they are under the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence (note: if you cannot obtain the consent of an individual appearing in your Photo, then his/her face must be blurred out or altered so as to be unrecognizable); 

iv. will not give rise to any claims whatsoever, including, without limitation, claims of infringement, invasion of privacy or publicity, or infringe on any rights and/or interests of any third party; and

v. is not defamatory, trade libelous, pornographic or obscene, and further that it will not contain, depict, include, discuss or involve, without limitation, any of the following: nudity (partial or otherwise); alcohol/drug consumption or smoking; unsafe or dangerous activities or behaviours; explicit or graphic sexual activity, or sexual innuendo; crude, vulgar or offensive language and/or symbols; derogatory characterizations of any ethnic, racial, sexual, religious or other groups (including, without limitation, any competitors of Sponsor); content that endorses, condones and/or discusses any illegal, inappropriate or risky behaviour or conduct; personal information of individuals, including, without limitation, names, telephone numbers and addresses (physical or electronic); commercial messages, comparisons or solicitations for products or services other than products of Sponsor; any identifiable third party products, names, trade-marks, brands and/or logos, other than those of Sponsor; conduct or other activities in violation of these Rules; and/or any other content that is or could be considered inappropriate, disparaging, unsuitable or offensive, all as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion.

The Sponsor and/or its promotional agency or designated content moderator (the “Reviewer”) reserve the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to screen every Photo.  Any Photo that the Reviewer deems, in its sole and absolute discretion, to violate the terms and conditions set forth in these Rules is subject to disqualification.  The Reviewer reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, edit or remove any Entry (or a component thereof – including, without limitation, the Photo), or to request an entrant to modify or edit his or her Entry (or a component thereof – including, without limitation, the Photo), if a complaint is received with respect to the Entry (or a component thereof – including, without limitation, the Photo), or for any other reason at any time.  If such an action is necessary at any time (including, without limitation, during or after the Contest Period), then the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to: (i) disqualify the Entry; (ii) disqualify the entrant associated with the Entry; and/or (iii) take whatever other action the Sponsor deems appropriate in circumstances to administer this Contest in accordance with the Sponsor’s interpretation of the letter and spirit of these Rules. 

8. LICENSE:

By entering the Contest and submitting an Entry, each entrant: (i) grants to the Sponsor, in perpetuity, a non-exclusive license to publish, display, reproduce, modify, edit or otherwise use his/her Photo, in whole or in part, for advertising or promoting the Contest or for any other reason; (ii) waives all moral rights in and to his/her Photo in favour of the Sponsor and anyone authorized by the Sponsor to use the Photo; and (iii) agrees to release and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from participation in this Contest and/or the use of his/her Photo, including, without limitation, any claim based on publicity rights, defamation, invasion of privacy, copyright infringement, trade-mark infringement or any other intellectual property related or other cause of action whatsoever.   

9. PRIZE: 

There will be one (1) Prize (the “Prize”) available to be won in this Contest consisting of the opportunity for the confirmed winner and one (1) Guest (subject to the Guest Requirements noted below – the “Guest”) to travel to Toronto, ON for the purpose of attending the Red Bull Illume Event (the “Event”) – which, is currently scheduled to take place on November 18, 2016  – which includes: (i) round trip airfare (economy class) for the confirmed winner and his/her Guest to Toronto, ON from a Canadian airport (as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion); (ii) accommodation for two (2) (double occupancy) for two (2) nights in a hotel or hotels determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion; (iii) general admission tickets to the Event; (iv) $200 CAD spending money for the confirmed winner; and (v) the opportunity for the confirmed winner’s Photo (as is or as may be edited) to be displayed (in a manner to be determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) at, and/or otherwise in association with, the Event.  Prize has a total approximate retail value of $3000 CAD based on a Vancouver departure example – although the actual retail value may vary depending on the point of departure.  Under no circumstances whatsoever will any difference between the actual and approximate retail values be awarded. Choice of flights, airline(s), hotel accommodations (including, without limitation, room size and occupancy) and all other aspects of the Prize are at the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the following general conditions apply to the Prize: (i) Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable, assignable and/or or convertible to cash (except as may be specifically permitted by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion); (ii) no substitutions except at Sponsor’s option; (iii) all travel related to the Prize must occur during the exact dates specified by the Sponsor (otherwise the Prize may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be forfeited in its entirety and, if forfeited, nothing will be substituted in its place); (iv) the confirmed winner and his/her Guest must have all necessary documentation to permit travel and must travel on the same itinerary; (v) the costs of everything not specifically and expressly stated herein as included in the Prize are the sole and absolute responsibility of the confirmed winner and his/her Guest, including, without limitation: meals and drinks; gratuities; entertainment; health and travel insurance; transportation for confirmed winner and his/her Guest to and from the Canadian airport selected by the Sponsor; additional transportation; baggage and other fees; and items of a personal nature (NOTE: confirmed winner and/or his/her Guest may be required to present a valid major credit card in his/her name at the time of hotel check-in to cover any incidental expenses); (vi) if the confirmed winner and/or his/her Guest do not utilize any part(s) of the Prize, then any such part(s) not utilized may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be forfeited in their entirety and, if forfeited, nothing will be substituted in their place; (vii) Sponsor reserves the right at any time to: (a) place reasonable restrictions on the availability or use of the Prize or any component thereof; and (b) substitute the Prize or a component thereof for any reason with a prize or prize component(s) of equal or greater retail value, including, without limitation, but solely at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, a cash award; (viii) all travel arrangements relating to the Prize must be made through the Sponsor or its designated agents; and (ix) by accepting the Prize, the confirmed winner agrees to waive all recourse against the Released Parties if the Prize or a component thereof does not prove satisfactory, either in whole or in part. 

Guest Requirements: The confirmed winner’s Guest must: (a) either be of the legal age of majority in his/her province/territory of residence or have the express written consent of his/her parent/legal guardian (in form and substance satisfactory to the Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion) to accompany the confirmed winner on the Prize trip; and (b) sign (and have his/her parent/legal guardian if he/she is under the legal age of majority in his/her jurisdiction of residence) and return the Sponsor’s release (by the date indicated on the release form) indicating (among other things) that he/she waives all recourse against the Released Parties relating to his/her participation in the Prize (including, without limitation, any travel related thereto).

In the event that a confirmed winner resides within a three hundred (300) km radius of Toronto, ON (as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion), Sponsor will determine, in its sole and absolute discretion, whether or not the Prize will include airline travel, another form of transportation to and from Toronto, ON, or reimbursement for certain incurred fuel costs. All decisions of the Sponsor in this regard will be final and binding without right of appeal.

It is strongly recommended and encouraged that each confirmed winner and his/her Guest obtain sufficient personal travel and medical insurance prior to departure. Flights are subject to availability, blackout periods, government restrictions and regulations, airline, airport or other transportation restrictions and regulations. 

The Released Parties are not responsible for any delay, postponement, suspension, rescheduling or cancellation, for any reason, of any aspect of a Prize – including, but not limited to flight(s) or the Event. Neither a confirmed winner nor his/her Guest nor any other person or entity will be compensated in the event of such delay, cancellation or other event contemplated herein.  The Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen tickets. Changes to flights and or passenger names are not accepted once bookings have been confirmed.  None of the Released Parties makes any representation or offers any warranty, express or implied, as to the quality or fitness of the Prize awarded in connection with the Contest. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the confirmed winner and his/her Guest understands and acknowledges that he or she may not seek reimbursement or pursue any legal or equitable remedy from either the Sponsor or any of the Released Parties should his/her Prize fail to be fit for its purpose or is in any way unsatisfactory.  For greater certainty and the avoidance of any doubt, by accepting the Prize, the confirmed winner agrees to waive all recourse against the Released Parties if his/her Prize or a component thereof does not prove satisfactory, either in whole or in part.

10. ELIGIBLE PRIZE WINNER SELECTION PROCESS (JUDGING):

A panel of judges (the “Judges”) appointed by the Sponsor will judge each eligible Entry on the basis of the following weighted criteria:

Criteria

1) Technical Superiority -- maximum of 1/3 of total points

2) Creativity -- maximum of 1/3 of total points

3) Overall qualities of photographic excellence -- maximum of 1/3 of total points

Maximum score: 100%

Each Entry will be given a score (the “Score”) by the Judges.  Odds of being selected as the eligible Prize winner depend on the number and calibre of eligible Entries submitted and received in accordance with these Rules during the Contest Period.  The eligible entrant associated with the top ranked eligible Entry based on Score (as determined by the Judges, in their sole and absolute discretion) will be selected as the eligible Prize winner.  In the event of a tie between two or more eligible Entries based on Score, the eligible entrant associated with the eligible Entry – from amongst all such eligible Entries that are tied – with the highest score on Criteria 1 (followed in the event of a further tie by Criteria 2, then Criteria 3) will be selected as the eligible Prize winner.  In the event of an exact tie based on criteria 1, 2 and 3, a new panel of judges will be appointed by the Sponsor to break the tie in accordance with the preceding procedure.  Judging is scheduled to be completed on or about September 30, 2016 (the “Selection Date”).

11. ELIGIBLE PRIZE WINNER NOTIFICATION PROCESS:

The Sponsor or its designated representative will make a minimum of three (3) attempts to contact the eligible Prize winner (via the information provided on the Entry Form) within six (6) business days of the Selection Date.  If the eligible  Prize winner cannot be contacted as outlined above, or if there is a return of any notification as undeliverable; then he/she may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be disqualified (and, if disqualified, will forfeit all rights to be the winner and to receive the Prize) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion and time permitting, to select an alternate eligible entrant based on the next highest Score in accordance with these Rules to be the eligible Prize winner (in which case the foregoing provisions of this section shall apply to such newly selected eligible winner).

12. ELIGIBLE PRIZE WINNER CONFIRMATION PROCESS:

NO ONE IS A PRIZE WINNER UNLESS AND UNTIL THE SPONSOR OFFICIALLY CONFIRMS HIM/HER AS THE PRIZE WINNER IN ACCORDANCE WITH THESE RULES, EVEN IF SUCH PERSON IS ANNOUNCED AS A WINNER OR AN ELIGIBLE WINNER.  BEFORE BEING DECLARED AS THE CONFIRMED PRIZE WINNER, the eligible Prize winner will be required to sign and return within two (2) business days of notification the Sponsor’s declaration and release form, which (among other things): (i) confirms compliance with these Rules; (ii) acknowledges acceptance of the Prize (as awarded); (iii) releases the Released Parties from any and all liability in connection with this Contest, his/her participation therein and/or the awarding and use/misuse of the Prize or any portion thereof (including, without limitation, any travel related thereto); and (iv) agrees to the publication, reproduction and/or other use of his/her name, address, voice, statements about the Contest and/or photograph or other likeness without further notice or compensation, in any publicity or advertisement carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor in any manner whatsoever, including print, broadcast or the internet.  If the eligible Prize winner: (a) fails to return the properly executed Contest documents within the specified time; (b) cannot be (or is unwilling to be) the Prize winner or accept the Prize for any reason; and/or (c) is determined to be in violation of these Rules (all as determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion); then he/she will be disqualified (and will forfeit all rights to be the winner and to receive the Prize) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion and time permitting, to select an alternate eligible entrant based on the next highest Score in accordance with these Rules to be the eligible Prize winner (in which case the foregoing provisions of this section shall apply to such newly selected eligible winner).

13. GENERAL CONDITIONS:

This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws.  The decisions of the Sponsor with respect to all aspects of this Contest are final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal.  ANYONE DEEMED BY THE SPONSOR TO BE IN VIOLATION OF THE SPONSOR’S INTERPRETATION OF THE LETTER AND/OR SPIRIT OF THESE RULES FOR ANY REASON IS SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION IN THE SOLE AND ABSOLUTE DISCRETION OF THE SPONSOR AT ANY TIME.

The Released Parties will not be liable for: (i) any failure of any website or any platform during the Contest; (ii) any malfunction(s) or other problem(s) of any nature whatsoever, including, without limitation, those relating to the telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software; (iii) the failure of any Entry and/or other information to be received, captured or recorded for any reason whatsoever, including, but not limited to, technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website; (iv) any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or other device related to or resulting from participating in the Contest; (v) anyone being incorrectly and/or mistakenly identified as a winner or eligible winner; and/or (vi) any combination of the above. 

The Sponsor reserves the right, subject only to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (the “Régie”) in Quebec, to withdraw, amend or suspend this Contest (or to amend these Rules) in any way, in the event of any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of this Contest as contemplated by these Rules, including, without limitation, any error(s), problem(s), computer virus(es), bug(s), tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or failure(s) of any kind whatsoever.  Any attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest in any way (as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion) may be a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.  The Sponsor reserves the right, subject only to the approval of the Régie in Quebec, to cancel, amend or suspend this Contest, or to amend these Rules, in any way without prior notice or obligation, in the event of any accident, printing, administrative, or other error of any kind, or for any other reason whatsoever.  

By entering this Contest, each entrant expressly consents to the Sponsor, its agents and/or representatives, storing, sharing and using any personal information submitted for the purpose of administering the Contest and in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy (available at: www.redbull.com.  This section does not limit any other consent(s) that an individual may provide the Sponsor or others in relation to the collection, use and/or disclosure of their personal information.  

The Sponsor reserves the right, subject only to the approval of the Régie in Quebec, to adjust any of the dates, timeframes and/or other Contest mechanics stipulated in these Rules, to the extent deemed necessary by the Sponsor, for purposes of verifying compliance by any entrant, Entry and/or other information with these Rules, or as a result of any technical or other problems, or in light of any other circumstances which, in the opinion of the Sponsor, in its sole and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Contest as contemplated in these Rules, or for any other reason.

For Quebec residents:  Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the board only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these English Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including, but not limited to, the French version of these Rules, point of sale, television, print or online advertising and/or any instructions or interpretations of these Rules given by any representative of the Sponsor, the terms and conditions of these English Rules shall prevail, govern and control to the fullest extent permitted by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Rules or the rights and obligations of participants, Sponsor or any of the other the Released Parties in connection with the Contest will be governed by and construed in accordance with the domestic laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other jurisdiction’s laws.  The parties hereby consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts located in Ontario in any action to enforce (or otherwise relating to) these Rules or relating to this Contest.

The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.  In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with the terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.
