Canon Announces New Mark IV
At the moment, the photo community is abuzz with rumors about the new Canon Mark IV, but until it is officially released in early December 2009 only a lucky few will be able to get their hands on it.
However, Canon has released some details on what to expect from their new flagship camera, whetting the appetite of professional photographers around the world.
As the successor to the EOS-1D Mark III, the Canon Mark IV comes with a brand-new 45-point autofocus system with 39 f/2.8 sensitive cross-type points and 10 fps continuous shooting. In addition, the high-speed, professional Digital SLR features an APS-H sized 16.1 Megapixel CMOS Sensor, Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors and a stunning ISO range of 100 - 12800 (up to 102400 in H3 mode), which is the widest ISO range ever to feature in a Canon camera.
Canon say the Mark IV was developed in co-operation with selected professional photographers and boasts an advanced noise reduction system and 1080p HD video capture. In addition, a wide range of new manual and automatic features enhance every facet of the shooting process and offer photographers complete customizability.
Due to its robust, weatherproof and portable build, the Mark IV could be well suited for action and adventure sports photographers. If we can get our mits on one, the Red Bull Illume testing crew will be testing and posting the results on www.redbullillume.com in the next few weeks.
