I am a photojournalist working between Hawaii and Los Angeles. Being born and raised in Hawaii, the ocean has always been a big part of my life. I was taught at a young age to ‘mālama’ (to take care of) and to have respect for the ocean. It will always provide food when you are hungry and a peaceful place to relax with family and friends after a long day at work.
My interest began when I first took a photography class in high school. I started taking photographs of my friends surfing and bodyboarding on the North Shore.
Photography challenges me to be creative everyday and it motivates me. My objective is to tell people’s unique stories in a truthful and respectful manner. With iPhones, social media and the internet, I am able to share these stories around the world. I hope to engage and inspire people to follow their passions.
My work has been published in the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and the San Francisco Chronicle among others. I’m currently working on publishing a book documenting my travels with my iPhone.
