Adventure Photography Workshops Adventure Photography Workshops 08/10/2012 created by Red Bull Illume Ever wanted to improve your skills as an action sports photographer? Even the best photographers need to spend time learning their craft — which is why adventure photography workshops have boomed in popularity. Coming up this fall there are a number of workshops run by respected action sports pros. In October Red Bull photographer Michael Clark is teaming up with leading workshop instructor Eric Gould. They’re bringing in world class athletesfor participants to photograph and refine in the dramatic backdrop of San Francisco. "Not only will you go home with a great education – you’ll get some amazing on-location photos for your portfolio too," says Clark. The workshop concentrates on climbing, mountain biking and skateboarding. Topics covered include composition and camera angles, equipment selection, natural light and autofocus techniques. Participants also learn how to deal with athletes who are putting their lives on the line. Check the details here. Meanwhile, this September, there are still places on the Summit series of workshops in Jackson WY, on the doorstep of the Grand Tetons, one of America's most beautiful adventure locations. This intensive week-long course covers topics ranging from creative imaging making to workflow management. There will be sessions dealing with career development, networking, new opportunities in multimedia and more. Key pictures from the week will be viewed carefully by editors from National Geographic and The North Face. The workshops are organized and managed by Rich Clarkson and Associates LLC of Denver, a photography and publishing company widely respected in American photography. Clarkson formerly worked at Sports Illustrated and Time magazines and used to be director of photography of the National Geographic Society. Find out more at this address. In Europe, Red Bull photographer Samo Vidic also runs workshops. No date has been scheduled for the next one but stay tuned to his website for details.
