The temperature in Antarctica rarely goes above -15ºC, so Navarro had to use a special dry suit, gloves and boots made especially by Patagonia, to allow him to spend up to 5 hours in the water. For action sports photographers thinking about making a similar mission to the white continent, Navarro offers some insight: “Antarctica is a 100% surfable option where you need special days, with special weather conditions and special winds. It’s really tricky to score, but the surf potential is awesome. We managed to surf a 3-meter wave!”Enjoy Juan Luis De Heeckeren’s shots from the adventure in the accompanying gallery, as well as a short video with some great footage here.
