broncolor joins Red Bull Illume
Red Bull Illume is pleased to announce that broncolor has come on board as a partner for the 2013 Image Quest.
The Swiss lighting brand is the ideal fit for Red Bull Illume. It has been making high-end light equipment for decades and its battery operated Move 1200L is the perfect portable system for action sports photographers. It packs 1200 joules of power in just 6kg - and is no bigger than a camera bag. This offers photographers fast recycling with short flash duration for shooting sequences or event action in any light situation.
Founded in 1958, the Swiss company broncolor has become a global player on the international market for professional lighting systems. Innovative developments, precision, benchmark technology, quality and reliability are the drivers of this success. The patented flash cut-off technology offers to action photographers incredible short flash duration with stabilised colour temperature. This technology has been incorporated in the new flash system Move 1200L.
With broncolor supplying one of the winning prizes, there's an added incentive for any photographer looking to enter the competition. Submissions are open until April 30th.

Welcome home! Red Bull Illume opens in Austria
Last night marked the opening of the Red Bull Illume exhibition in Red Bull's legendary Hangar-7 in Salzburg. A great turnout included a number of action sports photographers, athletes, Dr Andreas Kaufmann, the chairman of Leica and Ulrich Grill, founder of Red Bull Illume.
Hangar-7 is next to the Salzburg airport and the exhibition runs from December 11th to February 15th (excluding December 23rd to January 2nd). Hangar-7 is home to the historical Flying Bulls aircraft fleet and a collection of Formula 1 race cars.
“Hangar-7 is so cool,” joked Red Bull Illume winner Lorenz Holder, “I think I will bring my three-year-old twin boys here – but I think they will be more interested in the airplanes!”
Salzburg is the eighth tour-stop of the exhibition since it was first unveiled in Hong Kong in 2013 and will be its longest, so it's an opportunity not to be missed.

Lights go on in Sweden!
Red Bull Illume kicked off its exhibition tour stop in Gothenburg, Sweden last night. After the sun went down, the open-air exhibition was unveiled on dazzling lightboxes in the heart of Sweden’s second largest city, at Gustaf Adolfs Torg.
Among the guests at the opening event was photographer Dimitrios Kontizas, who before the event had still not seen his own image of BASE jumpers leaping from a cliff at a Red Bull Illume exhibition: “I was really pumped to be visiting Sweden,” he says. “Having my picture among the Top 50 of the Red Bull Illume Image Quest is something I could not have imagined and I was really excited to see it on display for the first time at such a spectacular exhibition alongside the fantastic work of my colleagues!”
Swedish photographer Elias Kunosson, also a Top 50 finalist, attended the exhibit with the athlete in his shot: “It's a great honor to have my photograph in the Red Bull Illume exhibition next to some of the biggest names in the action and adventure sports photography. And it's really cool to be here with Fredrik “Frog” Berggren, the star of my shot!”
The exhibition in Gothenburg is on every evening, from 5pm to 11pm, until November 23. You can find more info here.
