The Red Bull Illume Exhibition, which showcases the world’s greatest adventure and action sports imagery, is to be displayed at the KTM Motohall, Mattighofen, Upper Austria, from October 1 to November 1, 2022. The opening night is timed to coincide with Austria’s “ORF-Long Night of Museums”, when hundreds of museums open their doors until 1AM, and can all be visited with a single ticket. The event has been taking place for 22 years and the KTM Motohall is one of the museums taking part.
The KTM Motohall is located in the center of Mattighofen. The museum, spread over an area of around 10,000m2, provides visitors with an opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of KTM. The imposing building architecture symbolizes the impressive dynamics of the now world-famous motorcycle company. In an interactive exhibition over three floors, visitors can learn all about the history and design processes of KTM motorcycles and get a good look at all the technical details. Special highlights include the KTM motorcycles exhibited on a recreated banked curve and the Heroes floor – an exhibition showcasing the most successful KTM riders of all time and their bikes including a 360-degree video installation. In addition to a varied range of activities for children, classic motorcycles are given a new lease of life in the living workshop in the basement of the KTM Motohall, as well as a fan store. The KTM Motohall is also the ideal location for corporate events with up to 350 people.
From October 1, there’s another reason to visit, and that’s the chance to see the 56 winning images of the Red Bull Illume Image Quest. With its high-octane heritage, the KTM Motohall is the perfect venue to showcase all the action from Red Bull Illume.
The winners were announced last December during a week-long series of live online broadcasts and events watched by fans all around the world. Will Saunders was crowned the overall winner for his shot of a falling climber in Utah, USA, and immediately afterwards the images were exhibited in the US resort of Aspen Snowmass, CO, USA. The 2x2m lightboxes provided by the German based manufacturer CCS Fabric Frame, allow the images to be seen and appreciated in all their glory, providing a very different experience to viewing an image online or on a phone.
Since the tour kicked off in the US, it has traveled across Europe, thanks to a long-term partnership between Red Bull Illume and SES Spar European Shopping Centers, visiting various cities across Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Italy. In September, the Red Bull Illume Exhibition was presented during Berlin Photo Week. Eight more tour stops are planned between now and the beginning of 2023 with the exhibition set to come to MURPARK, Graz, Austria, and HUMA ELEVEN in Vienna, Austria.

The winning images of Red Bull Illume feature some of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring photos of adventure and action sports around the world – from highliners to freedivers, rock climbers to mountain bike riders – and illuminate the passion, lifestyle and culture behind the photographers that shoot them.
Since they were announced, the 56 winning images have been touring the globe as a unique must-see illuminated exhibition. The images are displayed on innovative 2x2 meter lightboxes provided by the German based manufacturer CCS Fabric Frame. Now they’re on their way to Berlin, to be exhibited as part of BERLIN PHOTO WEEK in Arena Berlin, from September 2 to 4.
Taking place since 2018, BERLIN PHOTO WEEK is for anyone who loves photography. It’s a celebration of contemporary and traditional photography that showcases to new talents and award-winning photographers from different disciplines. In addition, the imaging festival wants to define and portray photography as a cultural asset on the one hand and as a mass phenomenon relevant to society on the other.
It’s the perfect venue to host the Red Bull Illume Exhibition. There are also photo walks, workshops, conferences, talks, networking events and picture shows. One of the guests will be Red Bull Illume photographer Carolin Unrath, whose black and white shot of a surfer about to board a train on the Munich subway won the Lifestyle by COOPH category. She is due to join the main stage on Sunday September 4 in the afternoon.
Hers was one of 56 winning images announced during a unique Unveiling Week in December 2021. The global exhibition tour kicked off immediately afterwards in the US, and since January has gone to Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia.

The next stage of the brand new Red Bull Illume Outdoor Exhibit Tour; the town of Brunico-Bruneck in South Tyrol, Italy will be illuminated from December 19, 2019 until January 6, 2020.
What better way to enter the new year than with an exhibition displaying the creative and captivating 60 finalist images of the world’s greatest adventure and action sports imagery contest on 2x2m lightboxes that will be illuminated after dark in the heart of the Dolomites.
The little city of Brunico-Bruneck is the geographical, cultural, and economic center of the Val Pusteria-Pustertal valley. With its numerous sights worth seeing, festivals, and top events, Brunico is the point of attraction for visitors of all ages.
Brunico is at an elevation of 835 m (2,740 ft.) above sea level, in the midst of a broad valley basin, surrounded by tall mountains: the medieval city is bordered on the north by the Valle Aurina-Ahrntal with its glaciers of the Zillertal Alps, and on the south by the Val Badia-Gadertal with its peaks of the Dolomites.

This brand-new set up of the lightboxes, on which the images are displayed for the first time at Hangar-7, is provided by the German based company CCS digital_fabric®. The first stop on the brand new Red Bull Illume Outdoor Exhibit Tour is truly epic; Plan de Corones, Italy, at at 2,275m / 7.464 ft. will be illuminated from November 30 until December 15, 2019.

On October 15, 2018, the 55 finalist images from the Red Bull Illume Image Quest 2016 will go on display at the EUROPARK shopping center in the Czech capital city of Prague. It’s here that the world’s greatest adventure and action sports photos will make the final stop of their European Indoor Exhibit Tour to conclude a successful 2018 partnership with SES retail outlets. True to the theme of Red Bull Illume, the images will be illuminated in high resolution on stunning, 4K digital smartframes.
Located a short distance southeast of central Prague, EUROPARK is home to around 75 stores. The complex itself spans over 40,500m² and offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants and services. It even has its own ‘children’s world’ attraction, making it the perfect place for all the family. Its size and architectural dominance has made it a regional landmark and a go-to shopping location for both locals and tourists alike.
With street sports playing a major theme at the exhibition, EUROPARK in Prague is a perfect fit for the finale of the 2018 Indoor Exhibit Tour. The newly rebuilt huma eleven opened in March 2016 and is one of the most established shopping centers in the Austrian capital, with roots that date back to the 1970’s. This August, the stunning 55 finalist images from the Red Bull Illume Image Quest will make the penultimate stop of the European Tour, and the final stop in Austria, at Vienna’s most modern shopping center.
The comprehensive rebuild and further extension of huma eleven not only increased the size to a total of 50,000m², but also provided an updated, upgraded, modern and fresh architecture inspired by the nearby River Danube that is renowned for it’s water sports. The fact that Vienna is home to much of the talent that can be found on both sides of the lens from Red Bull Illume, makes huma eleven the ideal setting for an Indoor Exhibit Tour stop.
Whether traveling by car or bus access to the shopping center could not be easier. Huma eleven is located near the motorway and has a free parking area. Situated in the Döbling shopping quarter of Austria’s capital city, Q19 is a premium retail outlet boasting 40 international shops, cafes and restaurants. As one of Vienna’s most modern and vibrant hangout spots, the venue provides a unique opportunity to bring the contest’s 55 finalist images to an entirely new audience.

The Red Bull Illume Exhibit Tour continues its journey around the world, departing from Salzburg to call the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan its new temporary home as of 15th of December until the 15th of January.
The Heydar Aliyev Center was designed by famous designer Zaha Hadid, is considered to be the intellectual heart of the city and its signature flowing lines make it the perfect home for the Exhibit Tour.
The exhibition can be visited daily from 17:00 - 00:00, except for the Opening Night of the Exhibition, when the lightboxes will be unveiled at 19:00.
Hangar-7 in Salzburg, Austria is the official Tour Stop home of Red Bull Illume, a unique building which houses a large collection of historical aircraft, F1 cars and other unique mementos in sports history, which makes it the ideal space for a Red Bull Illume exhibition.
Hangar-7 is open daily from 09:00 - 22:00 and entrance is free of charge. However, we recommend visiting the Red Bull Illume Exhibit after the sun has set, as that is when your senses will really be illuminated.
Free parking is available in front of Hangar-7.
This year, Red Bull Illume also included a National Mobile Contest, inviting anyone with a camera on their smartphone to submit their best action photo. The exhibit in Toronto will also feature one Canadian finalist of the mobile contest.
Toronto’s Sir John A MacDonald Plaza, located in front of Union Station off of Front Street, is the ideal location for residents and visitors to the city to experience Red Bull Illume nightly from 7:30pm-11:00pm. During this time, the 55 official winning images will be displayed as an outdoor gallery in large illuminated light boxes for curious visitors to walk among for free, taking in the best action sports photography in the world.
Parking for Red Bull Illume is located near the intersection of Front and University streets. Public transit is preferred where visitors can get off at Union Station and simply head to street level.
Kicking off the fourth edition of our exhibit tour in North America, Chicago's Wrigley Square, located in Millenium Park, is the ideal place to showcase the finalist of the Red Bull Illume Image Quest 2016, where the light boxes will stand side by side with the famous Millenium Monument and be a stone's throw away from the famous Chicago Bean.
To showcase the amazing imagery in a unique perspective, the exhibition will only be open after the sun goes down, between the hours of 6:30pm and 10:30pm.

Cologne is a major cultural center for the Rhineland, hosting more than thirty museums and hundreds of galleries. No wonder it was the ideal spot to host a Red Bull Illume tour stop, with photographers and industry leaders from across the world attending the Cologne exhibition in 2014.
The city’s popular Piedmont Park was the perfect setting for locals and visitors alike to stroll through and take in the sights of life-sized, illuminated lightboxes featuring 50 of the best action and adventure sports photographs in the world.
In 2014, a collection of the world’s best action sports photography illuminated Vancouver’s Jack Poole Plaza at the Convention Center. The City has hosted many international conferences and events in the past – but none quite as bright as Red Bull Illume’s only stop on Canadian soil.
In 2013, Red Bull Illume paid a visit to Arizona and set up along the Arizona Canal waterfront and adjacent Soleri Bridge. The exhibition lit up Scottsdale with a spectacular opening night, kicking off the North American tour in true style.
The Red Bull Illume Winner Award Ceremony took place against the backdrop of Hong Kong's dramatic skyline and Victoria Harbour in 2013. The event was hosted by Alyson Hau and Cyrus Chow and was nothing short of spectacular.

Founded in the 16th century, Trinity College is one of the world’s most prestigious universities, boasting a long and rich history of artistic excellence, and remains an important part of Ireland’s cultural history. So it should be no surprise that Red Bull Illume’s stop there in 2010 was such a success.
After wowing spectators and surviving a tornado in Atlanta, Red Bull Illume headed to Minneapolis in July 2008, where the beautiful, historic Stone Arch Bridge provided the spectacular setting.
After touring the West Coast in 2007, Red Bull Illume made its East Coast debut in Atlanta, Georgia’s Centennial Olympic Park on March 5-16, 2008. It was fitting that a location built to honor the best athletes in the world, showcased an exhibition that shared the same principles.
