I was commissioned by DIG BMX to shoot the final filming trip that United Bike Co did for their DVD 'Still United'. It was the trip from hell. Broken bones, concussions, emergency root canals, and on top of that a van break-in, nothing seemed to go right.
With one exception: the day we rode Treasure Island. It's an abandoned Navy base in between Oakland and San Francisco, and is well weathered, almost looks like a Hollywood back lot.
The youngster on the trip, Harry Mills-Wakley, wandered away from the crew and found this roof setup. I had no idea if he had it in him as I’d never worked with Harry before. And seeing how the trip went, I couldn't help but visualize the worst case scenario. However, with full confidence he pulled the line off with no issues first go. We were all ecstatic. It breathed some life into the trip and gave us assurance that the endeavor wasn’t all for nothing.
