I was fortunate enough to head out to Hunua, south of Auckland, New Zealand with Mike ‘Hucker' Clarke and a few others, who had come to NZ to ride their BMX bikes around the country. I had also wanted to shoot in this spot, which is a great place to hang out with mates and ride. It’s known as a very cool spot, part of a dam system.
I wanted to show that the walls could be ridden and flowed on. Hucker was up for it. He pumped his way from wall to wall so he could get the speed to turn in front of my lens. It was like he was surfing a wave making turns on the walls but on his bike.
The camera I used for this shot was a Canon EOS 5D Mark III with a Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8L II USM. The focal length was 31mm.
