This shot is from a 2018 Revel Co. project called 'Contra'. Contra was a concept where a trail would be lit up at night and each feature would have its own custom lighting design. In this shot Brandon Semenuk is doing a 360 barrel roll up the step up feature. This was a relatively simple move for Semenuk given his skill set, however the challenging part was getting enough speed to safely hit the jump. Since there were limitations on how many lights were in use, the crew would have to move the lights down the trail as each feature was shot, leaving the upper levels and lower levels of the trail in the darkness. Brandon would have to feel his way down the trail, towards the lit feature the crew was shooting on. There was also a logistical challenge rigging the lights in the forest, as they moved from feature to feature. This step up jump feature required lights to be hung from trees looking vertically down onto the jump, there were also lights from the back and side to create the desired lighting effect needed.
