After documenting a core crew of surfers and skaters in Cuba the last 14 days, they decided to show us one of the coolest spots we had ever come across. It’s the morning and we all have our boards and camera gear, walking in the streets of this small town in the middle of nowhere. We follow the surfers to a cliff edge and I peered over to see this old ship wreck and a wave breaking from it. I couldn't believe it. This place felt like a spot out of Tony Hawk Pro Skater. We spent the entire morning making images of this unique wave and surfing until the swell was gone. The game of this wave is to try and surf under the bow of the boat while dragging your hand along its hull without getting tetanus. Yojany made it look too easy.

About the shot

Biography
Will Saunders likes not knowing how things are going to turn out. But as anyone can see the minute they catch his imagery on billboards, in the pages of magazines, or hanging proudly in storefronts — things always turn out pretty damn cool.
With an open perspective, a sense of whimsy, and a respect for every realm, Will has traveled the world over, creating memories and capturing moments for clients such as The North Face. Will has also shot documentary work with climbers on the Big Wall in Oman, captured bandito surfers on a 20-day expedition to Cuba, and celebrated first ski descents in the Himalaya of Tajikistan.
And it’s still the first chapter for the self-described “mutt” — who learned to test his physical limits growing up in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest. Those early days paddling rivers and climbing walls were the perfect preparation for the here and now, where Will is able to push creative boundaries with his best friends in rad locations around the world.
