Holger Meyer from Germany riding during the Maremma Challenge Invitational on Apr 22, 2021.
The Maremma Challenge leads MTB participants through the various landscapes and trails in Tuscany, Italy.
Here, Holger Meyer is shown riding the "Vie Cave" (Cave Roads) in the Maremma region of Tuscany. The trails have been sculpted into the tufa rock by the Etruscan, dating back more than 2500 years. The significance of those labor-intensive trails is not completely resolved, but as are many ancient tombs, some cultic meaning is suspected.
Speeding through these narrow canyons is a blast by itself, enjoying that on a modern-day enduro bike while being aware of the trail's history brings it to a new level.
