This shot is pretty special to me because it was part of a bigger personal film project that I directed last year, which will be out in mountains festival next October 2021, called "Out Of Frame". It's the behind the scenes of an outdoor photographer that shows how to shoot in big mountains.
This photo represents the end of this project and the happiness of the team behind it. We were just finishing the last sequence of the Out Of Frame project about opening a new high-line in Mont Blanc. It was surely the most crazy and engaging shoot of my life. A line of 70 m between two thin and sharp spine ridges above a 600 m void, at 3600 m high.
When you look at the composition, the subject is not the high-line or the crazy athlete that's walking into it, but more the friendship of the photographers and cameramen that are just happy bout the success of the mission and being able to get back with strong memories. That's what's the film is about and that's what mountain photography is about.
