Having called Revelstoke, British Columbia, and the surrounding Monashee and Selkirk mountains home now for over a decade, I spend a lot of time on the local trails and in the forests searching for new imagery. This photo was taken on Boulder Mountain - a popular DH/Enduro trail network close to town - an early snow had fallen in the rainforest a few days prior but hoping most it had melted off I called up Brian and Dominic to get out to capture some early morning moody images while the mist was still hanging low in the valley.
This image was captured on lower Boondocker, a popular trail that has received some new woodwork in the past couple of years. I knew this particular spot would work well that morning, adding depth and contrast to an already moody trail and forest. Dominic and Brian nailed the timing perfectly for this shot. Conditions were cold, slippery and occasional patches of snow that one had to watch out for. It was the kind of morning I strive for on many of my photoshoots... being able to showcase the weather and elements alongside the action is when I am most creatively fulfilled. This morning resulted in a number of strong images thanks to the weather and the stoke and energy of the riders.
