I have been putting a lot of effort into expanding the culture of action sports and have been taking astro action sport since 2016. This starry night sky photo was popular with not only ski fans, but also attracted a lot of people from different fields. One of the photos I took covered an issue for a famous Japanese astronomy magazine, and a ski magazine.
It is actually more difficult to ski than taking a photo when it comes to “night” ski photo shoots. The skier has to ski down and make a slash turn in a pitch dark area, as it only flashes when I release the shutter. Not all the skiers will want to try that crazy and dangerous photoshoot, but there is one team who just loves this kind of category. A Japanese entertainment ski team “FOORUSH” helped me with this shot.
This was a very tough photo shoot as we had to find a new track every time, as we wanted the snow splashing towards the camera. We tried probably around 30 times, changing the position of strobe, etc. and finally got to a point where we both understood the perfect timing. And here we go. Perfect timing, brand new track, mystical shape to snow splash, and of course with beautiful starry night sky.
