This wild onsen was located on the way to our main terrain for shooting this day. We checked a couple of apps for the weather forecast and it easily guessed that fog would stay around until late lunch time, so we could choose a later start for the day. At least, none of us wanted to stay in each other's cars until lunch time... So, it was quite a simple answer to drop in and enjoy some Japanese culture of "Onsen" first and adjust the schedule against the weather -actually it was "Ashi Yu" (Foot Bath).
It's not common in our culture to do wild Onsen, especially at a snowy place. Still there is a pond with hot water which made our mind relax, also your whole body gets warm.
I often go on photo shoots with these three boys because they keep good vibes all the time and here again, it seems like a very peaceful atmosphere and there we were laughing over our trashy conversation, like normal life in the suburbs.
You can see white the landscape far behind us, which our trustworthy weather apps told us about several hours ago. And it delayed to evening time, but we could catch the beautiful twilight for skiing. It was only a one hour window with wind and a crystal shiny hard surface. It was our choice, everyone satisfied with their own decision.
I remember it was one of the most memorable days and a real life moment.
The wait is over and we can finally share the first new images of this year's Red Bull Illume Image Quest! Every week, we announce the semi-finalists of a different category, so stay tuned for more mind-blowing images.
