How did you develop your photography skills?
A large part of my development as a photographer has been self-taught since the professional career I pursued was graphic design. I believe that experience is the best teacher, since I began over 10 years ago, I haven’t stopped practicing photography. Of course, there have also been people in my life who have taught me a lot along the way.
The environment we are in directly influences the way we approach photography.
What is your favorite sport to photograph and why?
Kevin's Red Bull Illume submissions over the years
When you took the picture of Nataly smiling after her fall, did you know this is the shot ?
The day I took this photo, I had the idea in my head to take a lot of action shots. I knew I might come across a situation like Nataly’s because the area where I took the picture is very extreme and even dangerous. But when I met her along the way and saw that, despite her shocking injuries, she was happy, it conveyed something very special to me. Later, while selecting photos for the contest, even though it wasn’t my favorite, I felt it had something unique.
Which achievement has been the most meaningful to you so far?
There are many achievements that have been significant in my life. The first would be being able to live off photography today, which is my passion. Without a doubt, being a finalist in the Red Bull Illume competition for three consecutive editions ranks as one of my most special achievements because it fills me with pride representing my country in this great competition.
How do you stay inspired and creative after so many awards?
After every contest in which I am selected, my motivation to keep creating grows even more. In fact, each contest is a great source of inspiration because it challenges me to step out of my comfort zone and continue exploring the endless possibilities in my surroundings, the athletes I meet, and the techniques I continue to develop.
