Born in Iowa and raised in Ontario, I did not grow up in the mountains and so they always seemed like a distant illusion portrayed solely in magazines and on TV. As a result, I started out by shooting photos of my friends skateboarding.
Six years ago I took a chance and moved to Whistler with a backpack, a camera and the hopes of taking the photos I grew up admiring. The mountains and the people who explore them are my primary muse. Inspired by the vast landscape and unparalleled terrain my winters are spent mainly on a snowmobile in the backcountry accessing remote locations. In the summers, I head south and the ocean, desert and immense forests become my prominent backdrops.
It is the challenges and adventure inherent in this type of photography that inspires and propels me forward. In a relatively short amount of time, I have had the opportunity to work with a number of the world’s top athletes as well as develop a wide client list including Oakley, Element, MTV – Music Entertainment, Absinthe Films, and been published worldwide in such publications as TransWorld Snowboarding, Snowboarder, ESPN.com, The Toronto Star, Pleasure Snowboard Magazine and Flare Fashion Magazine.
