My earliest experiences in photography were spent capturing the outdoors and natural environments. Not much has changed, except that over the years I began incorporating more humans into those landscapes. This began with documenting my own adventures in climbing and mountaineering, and expanded into planning conceptualized shoots with athletes on climbs or in environments that had aesthetic appeal.
I am most inspired by images that depict an athlete performing amidst a sweeping, dramatic landscape, but I have grown to appreciate the raw emotions and human interactions that occur in and around adventure sports. The entire story can rarely be told in a single image, and I enjoy documenting the full editorial process including before and after, behind the scenes, and the lifestyle surrounding a sport.
I spent the majority of my formative photography years documenting the climbing community in China, and have been fortunate to have had a number of images published in climbing magazines across multiple continents. Today, I am based in the SF Bay Area, where photography is just one of my various hustles, among developing my technical scientific skillsets. Moving forward, I'm excited to continue exploring the mountains and ocean with the lens, while also expanding my portrait and studio photography work.
