From a young age, photography has been a way to express my feelings and tell stories about the world around me. My focus and style evolved as I grew up, from dark self-portraits, to nature and street photography.
Casual hiker and rock climber, I always felt a deep attraction for the mountains, but it is only when I moved to Switzerland for my PhD ten years ago that I really fell in love with them. Naturally my two passions – photography and the outdoors – have very quickly combined, and I started to spend all my free time taking pictures in the mountains, as I learned and progressed in as many new outdoor activities as possible.
After using exclusively film and instant cameras, I bought my first digital camera when I got my first job opportunity for an outdoor equipment brand. From then, hard work, training and encounters with amazing athletes and friends, helped the thrilled amateur to become an even more passionate professional freelance photographer. Next to my career in biodiversity research, I am now working as a professional outdoor photographer for and with other mountain lovers. My photography focuses mainly on the action in a wide range of sports - mostly those which involve climbing mountains all year round - but I also really enjoy shooting portraits and moments around the action in order to do what I really love the most: tell the stories of people doing awesome things in the most beautiful environment on this planet.
