My interest in photography started when I was around 17. Intrigued by the idea of doing something really meaningful in life, I was aiming to become a war photographer at first. I refrained from doing so for a variety of reasons.
Instead, I studied engineering and economics and assisted a couple of high profile commercial photographers to really learn the trade. I realized that I really have these two big passions in life, photography and the outdoors. So after graduation I decided to merge them and work full-time as a freelance photographer specializing in outdoor and adventure photography, which is what I do and love.
What makes this so special for me – apart from often rather spectacular office views – is to be able to experience these athletes pursuing their passion and witnessing their dedication, their struggle and achievements. It is great to be surrounded by people who burn for what they do; to be surrounded by people that inspire you.
I try my best to translate this into images that hopefully communicate the passion to the audience, inspiring them to explore, dream and discover.
