I’m a self-taught photographer living in Hawaii but originally from south Denver, Colorado. Sports were a huge focus in my home growing up so being the youngest of four it’s safe to say I was very competitive. I was an athlete all my life and left wrestling in college to pursue a career as a professional snowboarder.
I spent most of my 20s traveling, competing, and filming video parts. During the off-season of what I would say was my best year snowboarding I was injured in a car accident. It was hard to bounce back right away and during my recovery I was offered a full-time job by my headphone sponsor Skullcandy. With my back injured and my future uncertain I accepted the position and I hit the road traveling 40 weeks a year. During a rare visit to the office I met our new graphic designer, Jessica. She would eventually become my fiancée.
It was around this time I picked up a camera and began teaching myself photography. As my passion grew Jessica and I decided to leave our jobs and hatch a plan to move to Hawaii. Since then we've never looked back.
My favorite days are spent traveling and shooting outside in nature. I spend so much time researching locations and conditions, so being prepared is very important to me. I love the challenge of trying to capture the perfect moment. It could be a beautiful landscape during sunset or a surfer catching a perfect wave, either way the moment is gone forever.
