I’m Monica (although many know me as Moa), a photographer from Philadelphia who grew up along the East Coast. The first time I ever picked up a camera was at ten years old. It was this clunky silver point-and-shoot with a broken battery cover. I will never forget running around the house, camera in hand, attempting to photograph everyone and everything in sight. I was hooked. After taking a spontaneous backpacking trip abroad, I became captivated by portraits, untouched landscapes, and extreme sports – which is what my current work focuses on. Throughout the years I have had the great pleasure of traveling to and photographing places such as Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Vietnam, and Hawaii. It has always been my mission to tell the stories of people, their lives, lifestyles, and to capture those fleeting moments that seem to pass most people by – those moments that make us feel something, those moments that truly embody the quintessence of life.
