My name is Syo van Vliet, I'm 25, living in Amsterdam and currently traveling the world through photography.
After my parents gave me my first camera in 2009 as a high school graduation present, I took it with me to loads of places.
I began taking my camera to the BMX events either myself or my friends were riding in. After photographing my friends, I realized with my knowledge of the sport and communication with the riders, I was able to capture the beauty of this scene. I put the riding to the side and took photography more seriously, playing around with composition and lighting.
My work got noticed and I began being booked out for jobs within the BMX scene. At one point I realized I wanted to do more than just BMX, so I got into shooting FMX, portraits, lifestyle stuff and snowboarding. With my first few snowboarding trips my work was published and from then on, it sort off took off.
Nowadays I’m fully living off my photography and filming work. Working for my own company I shoot for many nice brands, get to meet awesome people and am trying to see and capture as much of the world as possible.
