My name is Xabier Eguino and I live in the Basque Country, in northern Spain. I became interested in photography at the age of 11, when my father lent me his analogic reflex camera. In just a few years, what started out as a hobby ended up being my obsession.
Extreme sports caught my eye while I was shooting some of my first photos. I started practicing trail biking at the age of 12 and moved on to skateboarding, BMX, and downhill. I’ve been riding my bike in local skate parks and other spots for over a decade now. During those years I developed my approach to photography based on what I feel while riding and trying to expose the skill involved in the tricks I picture.
I didn’t study photography. For me, being self-taught makes all the progress more rewarding. I do have a degree in graphic design though, which helps a lot when it comes to image processing. Nowadays I work as a graphic designer and freelance photographer. I’ve taken part in several expos in the Basque Country and try to share my photography work through social media as much as I can.
