Red Bull Illume Image Quest 2010
The contest is again focusing on finding the world’s most outstanding and premium adventure sports images. Illuminating the passion, thrilling lifestyle and culture behind these shots is the aim. The photographers that brave the planet’s harshest terrains to freeze those precious moments in time shall be honored.
"The unique thing about Red Bull Illume is that it’s not only about nice still pictures, but also about emotion and action and timing, " says Garth Milan, photographer, editor and Red Bull Illume judge in 2007.
The submission phase will be open from October 1, 2009 until February 28, 2010. Amateur and professional photographers are invited to enter their best shots into Red Bull Illume via the official website www.redbullillume.com.
Photographs can be submitted in ten different categories, ranging from playground, culture, energy, spirit, close up, wings, sequence, new creativity and experimental to illumination. All details about submission, rules and categories can be found online.
In March 2010 the judging phase will start and only the best photo editors in the world of action and adventure sports photography will be asked to pick the most impressive shots and crown the Picture of the Year in May 2010.
The audience and the athletes will also get a chance to choose their favorites and vote for the People’s Choice Award and Athlete’s Choice Award winners.
Expectations for the next Image Quest are immense: "The bar is raised," says Jimmy Wilson, category winner 2007. "I imagine that the images are going to be even better than the last time and as more people know about it, the number of submissions is going to be huge."
